About the Organisation
Boxhead Plastic is a Berowra-based Incorporated Association ACNC registered charity with DGR status powered by 14 volunteers and four paid staff, working to divert bulk commercial plastic waste from landfill and transform it back into productive new uses. Boxhead plastics main focus is to collect, recycle and re-manufacture scrap plastic car bumper bars from local smash repair businesses.
Australia’s automotive industry generates 206,000 tonnes of plastic annually, with only 9.5% recycled. In Hornsby Shire alone, 29 smash repairers send 20.3 tonnes of plastic bumper waste to landfill each year, occupying 582m³ of landfill space. In 2025, Boxhead collected and recycled 115 tonnes of bumper waste the Sydney basin and Central Coast, reducing landfill costs and space. Our vision is to recycle every scrap plastic car bumper bar in Australia.
