The Opportunity
The Ashintosh Foundation is seeking expressions of interest from motivated individuals to join its governing Committee as a Non-Executive Director (Board Member). This is a voluntary, position suited to someone who wants to apply their professional expertise in service of a mission-driven organisation.
We are particularly looking to strengthen the Board's capabilities in one or more of the following areas:
- Legal — not-for-profit law, contracts, risk, or compliance
- SME governance — board process, committee structure or strategic planning in a small organisation context
- Accounting and financial management — financial reporting, audit oversight, budgeting, or treasury for a small NFP
What You'll Do
- Attend Board meetings (typically quarterly) and contribute to strategic decision-making
- Provide professional guidance in your area of expertise to support the Foundation's programs and operations
- Review and provide input on financial reports, governance documents, and organisational policies as required
- Act as an ambassador for the Foundation's mission in the broader community
- Contribute to the long-term sustainability and growth of the Foundation
Who We're Looking For
You are a qualified professional — a lawyer, accountant, governance advisor, or experienced NFP director — who brings practical skills the Board can draw on. You don't need a background in medicine or the arts, but you do need genuine enthusiasm for the Foundation's work and a willingness to commit meaningfully in a voluntary capacity.
You will thrive in this role if you are collaborative, pragmatic, and comfortable working within a small, values-driven organisation where everyone rolls up their sleeves.
Time Commitment
Board meetings are held quarterly, with occasional working groups or sub-committee activity between meetings. The total time commitment is estimated at 8–12 hours per year, plus preparation time.
