About Us

Chozen Foundation is an impactful non-profit organization entering an exciting and transformative chapter of maturity and expansion. Having successfully built a strong organizational foundation through our founding board, we are now scaling our operations, deepening our international footprint, and actively pursuing registration as a Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO) in Zimbabwe.

To guide this next phase of global impact, Chozen Foundation is undertaking a comprehensive governance restructure to establish new, stronger ways of working and an improved organizational architecture.

The Opportunity

We are seeking four (4) dynamic, visionary, and governance-focused Board Members to succeed our founding members. As a part of this new cohort, you will have a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction, compliance framework, and international governance structure of a growing charity.

We are specifically looking for leaders who can provide robust fiduciary oversight and strategic counsel as we transition from a start-up mindset to a highly structured, internationally compliant organization.

Key Areas of Expertise Required

To ensure a well-rounded and legally compliant board, we are seeking expressions of interest from individuals with a strong background in at least one of the following areas:

  1. International Development & African NGO Governance: Deep understanding of operating cross-border programs, managing international compliance, and ideally, familiarity with the PVO registration process and regulatory environment in Zimbabwe.

  2. Legal, Risk, & Compliance: Experience in cross-border non-profit law, drafting governance frameworks, establishing constitutional structures, and mitigating risk in developing nations.

  3. Financial Oversight & Audit: A qualified accountant (CPA/CA or equivalent) with experience in international charity finance, multi-currency reporting, and establishing rigorous financial internal controls.

  4. Strategic Fundraising & Global Partnerships: Experience in driving international institutional funding, securing bilateral/multilateral grants, and building corporate or philanthropic alliances.

General Selection Criteria

  • A proven track record of professional leadership and strategic thinking.

  • A clear understanding of the division between governance (the Board) and operations (the Executive team).

  • Exceptional integrity, collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to sustainable international development.

  • Prior board experience or completion of the AICD Company Directors Course (or equivalent) is highly desirable but not mandatory if equivalent professional expertise can be demonstrated.
