The Women’s Legal Centre ACT is seeking interest from women to serve in the following Board roles: Members, Treasurer, Chair.
The Centre is a values-driven and contemporary community-based legal practice and the only feminist legal assistance service in the ACT. We help women, trans and gender diverse people to stay safe, strong and in control of their lives by providing free expert legal advice and representation
The Centre is guided by a skilled and diverse board that supports the development of strategy, provides leadership, and oversees our strong governance, financial management and risk frameworks. Importantly, the board models and reflects the culture of the Centre – blending traditional Board roles with creativity, commitment, mutual respect, and humour. We value deep listening and thoughtful questions.
If you are a woman with a passion for gender equity, want to contribute to your community, and have skills and experience in any of the following areas, we would love to hear from you.
- Governance, particularly with respect to the not-for-profit sector
- Financial management, especially experience not-for-profit organisations
- Management of risk
- Legal expertise in areas such as corporate or regulatory law, charities/NFP law or legal assistance scheme and service delivery
- Strong leadership and committee skills and advanced skills as Chair and Treasurer
- Digital and tech savviness
The Board is committed to reflecting the community we serve and welcomes interest from First Nations women, women from migrant and refugee backgrounds, women with disability and women and femme identifying members of the LBTIQA+ community for these volunteer roles.
This is an unpaid volunteer role.
