What is Screen Clubs?

Screen Clubs is a grassroots membership-based organisation that focuses on workshops and film production experiences to provide development and training for under-18s. The core focus of the organisation is the establishment of local 'screen clubs' across metropolitan and regional Australia, where members produce their own local productions. Our secondary focus is running School Holiday Programs and Workshops that are designed to generate an interest in screen production and build confidence in teens.

Our Vision

Our vision at Screen Clubs is to make organised grassroots media accessible nationwide for young people, regardless of background or location. By promoting greater access to opportunities for personal development and training through community screenmaking, we will encourage a greater diversity of youth voices to produce content and promote unique cultural identities.

Our Plan

Currently, our focus is on establishing our base in Melbourne by generating community interest through the running of School Holiday Workshops and School Incursions. This is to preempt and lay the groundwork for the launching of our very first ‘screen club’ in the Fairfield - Ivanhoe area.

What are we looking for?

Screen Clubs is looking for professionals with any combination of the following:

  • Board experience in similar kinds of organisations,
  • A background in media production, accounting, governance, strategy, marketing and/or project management,
  • A background in media education (at a secondary or tertiary level) is ideal,

to join our Board of Directors. Directors need to be passionate about community media, screen production, supporting a creativity incubator and/or youth screen education.

Commitment

Screen Clubs is a not-for-profit organisation. We intend to be incorporated as a charity with the ACNC before the end of the year. As such, our Board is entirely voluntary. Currently, the overall commitment for Directors is small. Directors will be asked to attend one 1-hour meeting per month online. This meeting will involve strategic planning and voting on the direction of the organisation. In addition to these meetings, Directors will be asked to read through minutes and provide feedback or advice on policy drafts via email. Any additional commitment will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. For more information on the organisation, you can visit our website: www.screenclubs.org.au

To apply, please send your CV and a 1-page cover letter to contact@screenclubs.org.au highlighting which position on the board you're interested in applying for, including relevant experience.
