Invitation to Join the Founding Board – The National Sirens Foundation: Help Shape Australia's Future For First Responders 

The National Sirens Foundation (NSF) (ABN 40665081247) is a national registered charity with an ambitious vision: to improve the lives, wellbeing and long-term outcomes of Australia's first responders through collaboration, research, advocacy and evidence-informed reform. In an era of increasingly complex emergencies, natural disasters and community expectations, we believe Australia's first responders deserve a stronger national voice, better evidence to inform reform, and a more coordinated approach to supporting those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.

We are entering an exciting new phase of our development. As we commence a comprehensive rebranding of the Foundation, we are laying the foundations for the next stage of growth, impact and national influence.

We welcome applications from senior executives, company directors, governance professionals, business leaders, academics and experienced professionals who share our commitment to strengthening the wellbeing and resilience of Australia's first responders.

Our vision extends beyond supporting individual organisations. We are creating the strategic architecture needed to better understand Australia's first responder landscape, inform national policy, strengthen collaboration across jurisdictions and organisations, and help build a more resilient emergency services sector for future generations.

As the Foundation continues to grow, we are seeking up to three additional Non-Executive Directors to join our Board at what is truly the ground floor of the organisation's journey.  This is a rare opportunity to help shape the Foundation's strategic direction and help build its governance framework, systems, policies, website, partnerships, public profile and organisational capability as NSF evolves into a nationally recognised charity.

We are particularly seeking experience in:

• Company Secretary / Governance
• Strategic stakeholder engagement
• Corporate partnerships and sponsorship
• Fundraising and philanthropy
• Government relations
• Corporate governance
• National not-for-profit leadership

While an understanding of the first responder sector would be highly regarded, it is not essential. We welcome applications from individuals who bring complementary professional expertise, strategic thinking, strong governance experience and a genuine commitment to making a lasting national contribution.

The current Board comprises former senior police leaders and an experienced coaching psychologist. We are now seeking to broaden the Board's collective capability to support the Foundation's next stage of growth and national impact.

We are a Board driven by purpose. We are committed to making a meaningful difference, leading by example and building an organisation that will leave a lasting legacy for Australia's first responders, their families and the communities they serve.

This is a voluntary opportunity to help establish an organisation that aspires to become Australia's leading independent voice for first responder wellbeing, resilience and evidence-informed reform.

As a registered charity, Board members will be required to meet Responsible Person requirements under the ACNC Governance Standards.  More details on these obligations can be found here.

What We Ask of Our Directors

• Approximately one Board meeting per month (initially).
• Participation in one Board committee or strategic project.
• Active contribution to governance, strategic planning and organisational development.
• Attendance at key Foundation events and stakeholder engagements, as appropriate.
