Karul Projects Dance Theatre is a First Nations-led contemporary dance-theatre company based on Minjungbal Country on the Southern Gold Coast. We are seeking expressions of interest from a First Nations person with financial expertise to join our Board as a volunteer Director, with a particular view to the Treasurer role.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the governance and long-term sustainability of a First Nations performing arts organisation, at a time of consolidation, refinement and growth under Karul's 2025-2029 Strategic Plan.

We are particularly interested in hearing from someone who:

• Has experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, audit, or financial management, whether through professional practice, community organisations, governance roles, or lived experience
• Is comfortable reading, interpreting and explaining financial reports to support informed Board decision-making
• Can act as a financial sounding board for the Artistic Director and Company Manager, particularly around budgets, cashflow and financial planning
• Is interested in supporting strong governance, accountability and sustainability in the arts

Prior board experience is welcome but not essential. What matters most is financial confidence, clear communication, and a commitment to First Nations leadership and cultural integrity.

This is a volunteer position; reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Board members may be based anywhere in Australia; meetings are held primarily online.
