Founding Treasurer – The Woodley Rose Project

The Woodley Rose Project is a developing Victorian community-led not-for-profit being established to support men and their children affected by family and domestic violence.

We are seeking a skilled and committed Founding Treasurer to join our founding committee and help establish strong, transparent and responsible financial governance from the beginning.

The Project is preparing an initial 12-month pilot across Gippsland and the Grampians. The pilot aims to directly support at least 100 men/family units, with a stretch target of 200, while reaching at least 2,000 people through community information, outreach and referral promotion.

The Treasurer will work with the Founder and other committee members to help establish appropriate financial systems, controls and reporting processes for a growing not-for-profit organisation.

Key responsibilities are expected to include:

overseeing budgets, financial controls and committee financial reporting;

supporting bookkeeping, reconciliations and preparation of financial records;

helping establish systems for donations, grants, sponsorships and restricted funding;

assisting with financial planning for the pilot program;

supporting appropriate grant acquittal and reporting processes;

helping ensure the organisation meets relevant financial governance and regulatory requirements; and

working collaboratively with any external accountant, bookkeeper or auditor engaged by the organisation.

We particularly welcome applicants with experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, audit, not-for-profit financial management, governance or related fields.

Experience in the charity or community-services sector is desirable but not essential.

The Treasurer will not be expected to perform every financial function independently. The organisation is committed to appropriate separation of duties, documented approvals and strong financial controls.

This is an unpaid honorary governance position. Meetings are expected to be held approximately monthly and will primarily be available online, making participation possible from across Victoria.

Approximately 2–4 hours per month is anticipated, although additional involvement may be required during incorporation, establishment and the early development of the pilot.

Relevant lived experience is valued but is not required, and applicants will never be expected to publicly disclose personal experiences.

Applicants of all genders and backgrounds are welcome. Regional Victorian applicants are particularly encouraged.
