Founding Committee Member – Grants & Sponsorship

The Woodley Rose Project is a developing Victorian community-led not-for-profit being established to support men and their children affected by family and domestic violence.

We are seeking a motivated and relationship-focused Founding Committee Member – Grants & Sponsorship to join our founding committee and help build the sustainable funding partnerships needed to establish and grow the organisation.

The Project is preparing an initial 12-month pilot across Gippsland and the Grampians. The pilot aims to directly support at least 100 men/family units, with a stretch target of 200, while reaching at least 2,000 people through information, community awareness, outreach and referral promotion.

The pilot will provide safe intake, information, warm referrals, service navigation, assistance with forms and practical matters, limited material assistance and consent-based follow-up.

The role

The Grants & Sponsorship Committee Member will help develop and oversee an ethical and sustainable funding pipeline for the organisation.

Responsibilities may include:

- identifying suitable government, philanthropic, community and corporate grant opportunities;

- researching potential corporate sponsors and community partners;

- assisting with grant applications, sponsorship proposals and expressions of interest;

- helping maintain a grants, sponsorship and funding opportunity register;

- supporting the development of funding budgets, project descriptions and impact statements;

- helping establish relationships with businesses, foundations, community organisations and potential supporters;

- coordinating with the Treasurer to ensure financial information used in applications is accurate;

- helping monitor funding conditions, reporting requirements and acquittal deadlines;

- contributing to fundraising strategy and organisational sustainability;

- supporting ethical sponsorship and fundraising decisions; and

- reporting funding opportunities and progress to the Committee.

Who we are looking for

We welcome applicants with experience in areas such as:

- grant writing or grant administration;

- fundraising;

- sponsorship;

- philanthropy;

- business development;

- tenders or submissions;

- corporate partnerships;

- marketing or communications;

- community engagement;

- stakeholder relations; or

- not-for-profit or community-sector development.

Previous board or committee experience is helpful but not essential.

We are particularly interested in someone who can build genuine relationships, write clearly and persuasively, manage deadlines and represent the organisation professionally.

Governance and ethical boundaries

This is a governance position as well as a funding-development role.

The Committee Member will not have authority to independently enter contracts, guarantee sponsorship benefits, promise funding outcomes or commit the organisation to expenditure without appropriate Committee approval.

Participant information, personal stories or identifying details will not be used for fundraising or sponsorship without appropriate consent, authority and safety considerations.

The Woodley Rose Project is committed to transparent fundraising, responsible financial stewardship and partnerships that are consistent with its charitable purpose.

Commitment

This is an unpaid honorary governance role.

Committee meetings are expected to occur approximately monthly, primarily online, making participation possible from across Victoria.

Approximately 2–4 hours per month is anticipated, although additional time may occasionally be required around major grant applications, sponsorship proposals or establishment activities.

Relevant lived experience is valued but is not required, and applicants will never be required to publicly disclose personal experiences.

Applicants of all genders and backgrounds are welcome. Regional Victorian applicants are particularly encouraged.

The Woodley Rose Project is currently completing its incorporation, governance and charity-registration preparations.

Beyond Violence, Toward Hope.
