Any further information about this vacancy:

Kokoda Youth Foundation (KYF) is a registered Australian charity and incorporated association established on the Gold Coast in 2004. Our mission is to change lives through the Spirit of Kokoda. We support young people aged 8 to 17 through fully funded, adventure-based programs that build resilience, confidence, leadership and community connection.

We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced finance and accounting professionals who would like to join our volunteer Board of Management as Treasurer. The Treasurer is both a Director and the Board’s lead for financial governance, helping to protect KYF’s financial sustainability, accountability and long-term impact.

Working closely with the Chair, CEO and fellow Directors, the Treasurer will review financial reports and bank statements before each Board meeting, provide guidance on budgets and financial forecasts, oversee the annual audit, monitor financial risks and controls, and help the Board understand KYF’s financial position. This is a strategic governance and oversight role, rather than a day-to-day finance or bookkeeping position.

Candidates should bring substantial senior experience in accounting, finance, audit or financial governance. A relevant qualification is required, with CA, CPA or equivalent professional standing strongly preferred, or substantial equivalent senior-level experience. Experience in a not-for-profit, charity, grant-funded or regulated environment, together with knowledge of ACNC obligations, is highly regarded. Previous Board experience is desirable but not essential.

The commitment includes six scheduled Board meetings each year, an annual Strategic Planning Forum, preparation and review of Board papers and financial reports, and a financial briefing with the CEO before each Board meeting. Additional involvement will be required during budgeting, reporting and audit periods, along with active support for KYF events and fundraising activities.

The Treasurer is appointed for a two-year term, subject to KYF’s Constitution and re-election arrangements. This is an honorary, voluntary position and is not remunerated. Reasonable approved expenses incurred in the role may be reimbursed.

Appointees must consent to act as a Director and Responsible Person, complete KYF’s Board Member Agreement, disclose relevant conflicts of interest and meet all applicable eligibility, screening and onboarding requirements.

KYF is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people and welcomes candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and lived experiences.
