About the Company
Home and Lifestyle Options (HALO) has served the local community for over 30 years as a Christian-based not-for-profit care organisation. Their service includes aged care, respite, mental health and disability support. They support a diverse range of people of all ages and abilities and as well as support services, offering respite care in the home or the community. Having experienced solid growth in recent years and with the organisation’s strategic plan recently updated, the organisation sits at an exciting juncture with the opportunity for the CEO to work closely with the Board to shape the organisation’s future.
About the Role
As a volunteer board director, you will be responsible for the following:
- overall organisational performance
- strategy development
- strategy and policy implementation
- overall compliance/conformance
- regulatory and industry compliance
- risk management
You will be expected to:
- Attend bi-monthly board meetings (either in-person or online) that are typically held on the first Monday of the month (unless it is a public holiday and it moves to the following week), starting at 18:30 AWST
- Attend sub-committee meetings at Armadale (or online), if required
- Adequately prepare for board meetings by reading documents and providing clarification questions prior to meetings
- Timely response to board communications and out-of-session/circular motions, as required
- Participate in professional development
It is expected that Directors will spend 2-3 days per month on these activities.
Job Requirements Specifically, we are looking for people with property or business development experience, but we are also looking for expressions of interest from those with lived experience in aged or disability care or clinical and care governance experience. Additionally, we desire the following attributes: critical thinking, strategic, analytical and big-picture thinking and good communication skills. Visionary leadership with a genuine interest in aged and disability care would position you well to be considered for this exciting opportunity.
Essential Requirements
- A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ (personal attestation and referee)
- Empathy and compassion for the vulnerable in our community (CV)
- Ability to engage in board discussion (strategy and governance)
- Willingness to learn (personal development)
- Good business acumen (financial literacy)
- National Police Clearance or be in a position to obtain one
- Either a current director ID or be in a position to obtain one
