Any further information about this vacancy:

Historic Ketch Falie Inc. is seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to join our volunteer Board and help guide the next stage of the organisation’s development.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a heritage organisation with a growing focus on education, community engagement, preservation, storytelling and long-term sustainability.

You do not need previous Board experience to apply.

We are very open to people who may be new to governance and would like the opportunity to learn, contribute and gain practical Board experience. What matters most is that you are willing to ask good questions, exercise sound judgement, work collaboratively and contribute constructively to the organisation.

We are also particularly keen to hear from people with experience, skills or a genuine interest in finance, bookkeeping, accounting, budgeting or treasury work.

With the retirement of a long-serving Board member, we are planning ahead for succession in the Treasurer role. Previous experience in this area would be valuable, but we would also consider someone who has an interest in developing their skills and growing into the role with appropriate support.

More broadly, we would welcome people with experience or interests in areas such as:

  • governance and organisational leadership;
  • business and financial management;
  • heritage and history;
  • education and community engagement;
  • fundraising and sponsorship;
  • marketing and communications; and
  • project management.

You do not need to tick every box. A strong Board benefits from people with different backgrounds, perspectives and ways of thinking.

The role is voluntary. Board meetings are held monthly and generally run for around 1½–2 hours. Including preparation, correspondence and occasional project involvement, the overall commitment is usually around 5–8 hours per month, although this can vary during particularly busy periods.

Historic Ketch Falie is currently involved in a number of significant heritage, education and community initiatives, making this an exciting time to become more closely involved with the organisation.

We are looking for people who are curious, thoughtful, dependable and prepared to play an active part in collective decision-making.

If you have ever thought about joining a Board but wondered whether you had enough experience, we would still encourage you to get in touch.

Equally, if you already have governance, financial or professional experience and would like to contribute it to a worthwhile community organisation, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
