The Agricultural Bureau of South Australia has connected farmers and rural communities since 1888. Today we're a member-owned network of 34 volunteer-run branches across regional South Australia. In 2025 our members voted to rebuild the organisation, and the board is now delivering a new strategy, Strategy 2026+.

Our Treasurer is stepping down at our 2026 AGM, and we're looking for a board member to take on the Treasurer role and help strengthen the board's financial and governance foundations.

You would:

  • lead the board's oversight of our budget, cash flow, reserves, grant funding and annual accounts
  • review monthly financial reports from our contracted administration team and present them to the board
  • advise the board on governance, including our constitution and policies, which are being updated in 2026
  • Help us meet our obligations as an incorporated association and registered charity

You don't need to be an accountant. You should be comfortable reading financial statements and explaining them clearly to a volunteer board. Treasurer, not-for-profit, farm business or Xero experience would be a real advantage.

Board terms are three years. We meet monthly online (weekday evenings), with some face-to-face meetings each year. Sitting fees are set by members at the AGM, and travel is reimbursed. You don't need to be a member already: the Bureau will cover your membership if you're selected.
