Lupus Foundation Australasia (LFA)

The Lupus Foundation of Australasia is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by lupus and related autoimmune conditions. Through advocacy, education, research partnerships, and community support, we aim to raise awareness, encourage early diagnosis, improve patient outcomes, and work towards a future cure for lupus.

Role

LFA is recruiting for an experienced Board Director or senior executive with Board experience with a background in stakeholder engagement, partnerships (health desirable) and fundraising.

LFA is a new organization in the foundational stage. In addition to the roles and responsibilities of all Non-Executive Board Directors, this role will be pivotal in providing strategic oversight for expanding stakeholder engagement and partnerships and the development of sustainable income streams.

The preferred candidate will have experience in:

  • Health-sector partnerships;

  • Fundraising and income generation;

  • Corporate partnerships and sponsorship;

  • Stakeholder engagement;

  • Experience in research partnerships (desirable)

  • Board Director or senior executive experience working with Boards in not-for-profit sector

  • Governance qualifications (desirable)

Time Commitment (estimate)

  • Board meetings: minimum 6 per year + AGM (Friday evenings)

  • Board preparation: approximately1- 2 hours per meeting

  • Stakeholder and fundraising strategy work 2-4 hours per month

  • Additional meetings or compliance matters, board training as required

  • Interview and referee checks

  • Board approval

  • Eligibility to serve as a Director and Director ID

  • Completion of appropriate Responsible Person/director declarations;

  • Confirmation that you are not disqualified from managing a corporation;

  • Agreement to comply with the Foundation’s Constitution and governance policies;

  • Valid national police check

  • Completion of appropriate induction.
