Volunteer Non-Executive Directors (2 Positions) Open Community Legal — Melbourne / Australia-wide

Open Community Legal is a proposed not-for-profit community legal service being established to improve access to justice through free legal information and professional legal assistance.

We are seeking two independent founding directors to assist with establishing the organisation and providing ongoing governance and strategic oversight.

We particularly welcome applicants with experience in:

  • Legal practice, professional regulation or community legal services.

  • Accounting, finance, corporate governance or not-for-profit management.

  • Digital technology or community development.

These are voluntary positions, with remote participation available. Initial responsibilities will include reviewing the proposed constitution, establishment budget, regulatory arrangements and operational policies.

Applicants should be committed to access to justice, independent decision-making and sound governance.

The organisation is currently being established, and commencement of legal services will be subject to the necessary regulatory approvals and insurance arrangements.
