The Sydney Drug Education and Counselling Centre (“SDECC”) is looking for a board member with a financial and commercial background to take on the role of Treasurer.


The role involves attending evening board meetings and chairing the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee of the board. The board meets around six times a year and the committee three times a year. The role of Treasurer also involves review of monthly management accounts and support to the Board and CEO as required on financial matters. The time commitment would be on average 5 hours per month.




Sydney Drug Education and Counselling Centre (“SDECC”) is a unique centre of excellence that provides evidence-based, outcome focused counselling and support for young people aged between 12 and 25 years with problematic use of alcohol and other drugs (‘AOD”), and their families.


Our goal is to empower young people, families and their community to minimise the harms associated with the problematic use of AOD.


We are a leader of youth AOD services in NSW, based on the Northern Beaches and operating across northern Sydney.


About You


We are seeking a board member with;


  • A commitment to our mission and our harm-reduction and family-oriented philosophy
  • Demonstrated financial management competencies
  • Experience in or a desire to learn about governance
  • Commercial experience
  • Ability to commit to early evening meetings in Manly
