Jane Caro

Like it or not, the technological revolution stands still for no one.

Community organisations cannot afford to opt out. From the penny post to fibre-to-the-home, every successive mode of information transfer has empowered some and put the means of oppression into the hands of others. Communications really matter to the organisations who strive to make sure no one misses out on what this, our Lucky Country, has to offer.

Not only that, community organisations need to find their own path through the torrent of Kardashian content to get their own messages out.

At this year's Communities in Control conference we're bringing out the big guns. Jane Caro knows communications inside and out. As an author, novelist, lecturer, social commentator, columnist, speaker, broadcaster, keen tweeter and advertising guru (you may have seen her on Gruen Transfer), she knows where communications are at, where they're going, and how we can go with them.

And as a self-described feminist, atheist, media tart, wife, mother and stirrer, she's a provocative, entertaining speaker to boot.

You can hear Jane's thoughts about how communications have changed Australia, and how communities can lead the next phase, at Communities in Control 2014 (Moonee Ponds, Melbourne, May 26 and 27).
